What are leads?

One of the most important parts of digital marketing is attracting customers to your business. That is not necessarily easy, though. Knowing who is interested in your services and products can help your company a great deal — once you understand the pattern in how customers behave, using metrics and analysis tools. But that is only the beginning of the answer to: what are leads?

A lead is a potential customer whose contact details your company already holds — an email address, a phone number or a social profile, for example. Once your business has that information, you can start working to turn that person into a qualified lead.

Not every lead will become a customer, though. A lead with genuine interest is what we call a qualified lead, and that is where this kind of strategy should focus: a person or company that actually needs what you do. So a sales strategy that helps with that conversion is essential. Digital positioning, alongside Google campaign strategies and content, are examples of what helps attract leads.

It is hard work, even so. Not every lead, however qualified, will do business with you. That is why the first thing to do is to draw the profile of your "ideal customer" — and only then build the strategies to attract them.

How to get more leads for your company

Lead generation matters enormously to businesses, especially digital ones. In a digital business model you have to attract the people genuinely interested in your services and products. There are many ways to capture a lead: on the street, through traditional marketing. Online, that capture happens through your website — with conversion buttons and forms for the future customer to fill in.

Your site can also carry a blog. With relevant content your site ranks better, search engines show your digital space to more people, and more visitors land on it. That is why it matters to produce content that is relevant to whoever is looking for your service. It is an excellent way to bring a customer face to face with a problem your business can solve — much like this text and this blog, forgive the self-reference.

A newsletter, email marketing and events are also great ways to build awareness of your brand and later turn visitors into customers.

There are paid ways to attract leads too — campaigns on Google Ads and Facebook Business, for instance. Through them you can put your company in front of people who do not know it yet, with budgets set in advance so your spending is never compromised. If there is a marketing fair this weekend, you can build a campaign for that specific location — and you will be making impressions on people directly interested in what you do. Who knows, some of them may bite one of your conversion "hooks".

What Manáry brings to your growth

Marketing specialists say — and we sign underneath — that it is very important to "educate" your lead or customer. Nobody is hiding anything here: the more they know about your product or service, the better. That is precisely the path to your customer signing with you, by getting to know you.

The team at Manáry Digital is not only specialised in digital marketing — it is also fanatical about communication, because we believe that is a crucial link. Whether we are winning a new customer or working with our oldest one, we like to be transparent. That is why we share every stage of our project with you: not only so you know what is happening in your company, but so you understand what the next steps need in our digital marketing strategy over the months.
